There is a new software bundle for Mac coming this month.
It is called Mac Box Set and consists of iLife, iWork and OS X Leopard.
The list price of $169 is $10 less than iLife and iWork together, but you also get latest OS X thrown in for free.

Are there deals like this for MS software?
Not any time soon.
If you are still waiting – now is the time to jump the sinking MS ship.

Hello World!

Finally, I got the iPhone SDK!

Above is my first simulation. This stuff is great!

I installed and ran the classic Hello World example on my Mac mini.

Please notice that Mac mini is not a serious software development platform.

I have used other development tools in the past, but the Apple tools are not comparable to anything that ever existed. Did I mention that this tools are free?!

iPhone SDK

After watching Steve Jobs unveil the iPhone Software Roadmap and the other Apple top guys demonstrating what can be done using long anticipated iPhone SDK, my kids told me to update their iPhones. They want to play the new games. Unfortunately the new firmware 2.0 release is coming in June. But, you can experiment, develop applications then run the iPhone simulator on your Mac.

I wanted to sign up to be an iPhone developer for some time. I could wait no longer. Now together with the other 100,000,000 developers I am waiting to download the iPhone SDK. Unfortunately all I get is the wait and refresh page. From what I have seen watching the demo, the tools are worth waiting for.

My Mac got zits

My PowerBook G4 got zits.

Just two, tiny, gray pixels. They are in lower left corner of the display. Two inches from the left and half an inch from the bottom. Spaced one eight of an inch horizontally. I washed the screen to make sure it was not a speck of dust. They are most likely dead pixels, because they are most visible on the white background.

They just sit there and bother me any time I happen to look in the left corner. Since they are down at the bottom where not much is happening, I will pretend it is not a problem. What I do if they spread? Use Proactiv Solution? No. I will buy me new, shiny MacBook Pro.

While writing posts, I check the dictionary to make sure that I am not inventing new words. Apple dictionary application can check any combination of New Oxford American Dictionary, Oxford American Writer’s Thesaurus, Apple Dictionary and Wikipedia. Interestingly the term dead pixels exists only in Wikipedia.

During daytime the room has to be dark to prevent monitor glare.
