FreeAgent 500GB on sale
I got it on sale at CompUSA last Sunday.
Why did it take me almost three days to say anything about it?
Just wanted to make sure that it works. It sells for $119.99 which is $50.00 instant savings. Check out on the Internet, Seagate Mfg Part #: ST305004FDA1E1-RK. You can not get it for less than $135.00 anywhere.
I walked to the local store, went to where the hard drives are. It surprised me that the price tag was $169.99. I took it anyway and told the cashier that it supposed to be on sale. Sure it was. Five minutes later I was happily driving home.
Setup instructions are minimal: unpack, plug in power supply, plug in the USB cable, enjoy! It is really that simple. I use it on may Mac and had to reformat it using Disk Utility. I chose Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled) format. The formating took no time and I was on the way to use the Time Machine. It took exactly two hours to backup my drive filled with 66GB of stuff. It automatically backs up hourly, while the computer is on.
The FreeAgent drive has no off switch. It turns off when you unplug the USB cable or shutdown the Mac. It has an interesting orange vertical bar on the left side spanning the full height of the drive. The bar glows when the drive is on and slowly changes intensity, like it was breathing, when the drive is writing. FreeAgent is quiet and cool too look at and to touch. It has a fan, but a quiet one. I like it very much and would recommend it over any other external drive in its price range. Get it while the sale is on until 11/10/07. Check the site at CompUSA.com to make sure they still have them.

This is exactly what I've been looking for. I need something to back up my photos.
And I thought it was a pencil sharpener.
Yes. It is kind of a pencil sharpener for digital pencils.
