Free Starbucks coffee
I got free coffee.
This the most positive thing that happened do me all day today.
My lawyer was late.
While I waited, the receptionists offered me coffee. I asked if it was Starbucks brand. She said - no, it was Eight O'clock, because Starbucks is too strong and expensive. I declined the offer and decided to go across the street to Starbucks, since I had no time in the morning to get my daily dose.
I like a strong coffee. Once in Miami I tasted real Cuban coffee (café cubano), tiny shot-cup, a lot of sugar, it almost popped my eyes out. This is the coffee that probably can kill you if you have a weak heart.
In the Starbuicks, I pulled my store brand card and ordered "mild grande". They ran out of "mild". The female barista asked me if I can wait three minutes. Sure, I replied. She said to the cashier - "do not charge him". Surprised, I put the card back in my wallet and went to wander around looking at the photographs displayed on the wall. Nearby, I overheard two older looking lawyers or doctors talking and laughing about some clients.
My coffee was ready. I made a comment about not having cash for the tip. The baristas at the counter were surprised. I took the coffee and mumbled something about coming later. What a cheapskate. I never carry cash. It is more convenient to use check or credit card.
