I like my Sony SDM-HS75P monitor a lot. This 17 inch TFT LCD color monitor has unique modern look and works great. Native resolution is 1280×1024 in 60Hz mode. Monitor has DVI and VGA connectors. It comes with complete set of cables (power, analog and digital). There are two color versions of the outer frame, black SDM-HS75P/B and silver SDM-HS75P/S . There are also 19 inch versions of the same design SDM-HS95P/B and SDM-HS95P/S.
One word of advice when shopping for this monitor. Many sites on the Internet confuse the versions. Even search at http://www.sonystyle.com does not find the “P” version. There are two very different versions. Analog only SDM-HS75 and analog/digital SDM-HS75P. Pay attention to the letter “P” in the model number. The are many differences between the models. Analog has matte screen with lower contrast ratio 500:1 compared to 600:1 of the digital one with “shiny” reflective screen. Analog version list price is $349.00 and digital version list price is $449.00.
The monitor stand design is different than any other on the market. The frame extends about three inches downward to act as the front leg and the spring loaded plate on the back acts as the second leg making a structure looking like a letter “A”. The plate on back has a roller on the bottom making monitor angle adjustment effortless. This type of stand is rock solid. There is no wobbling like with one leg type stands common in other monitors.
I like that controls are hidden from view at the bottom of the bezel. They are accessible at any time and do not stare at you all the time since adjustments are only needed during monitor setup.
There is on only one thing that I do not like about this monitor. You can see yourself in it like in the mirror if the background of your display material is black. White, gray or light pastel backgrounds do not have this problem.
